This project involves the Industrial District Plan. The installation’s primary industrial area encompassing wetlands and floodplains, key infrastructure including cell towers, antenna farms, munitions storage, fuel storage, water and wastewater treatment plants, civil engineering shops, logistics readiness facilities, light manufacturing facilities, and associated administrative offices. The District Plan continues the comprehensive planning process by focusing on the current operations of a district and providing planning at a manageable scale by bridging the gap between the overarching Installation Development Plan (IDP) and the specifics found within individual site plans.
The project acknowledges the extreme Arctic conditions, necessitating specialized utility distribution solutions. Utilidors play a critical role in this environment, preventing the need for burying pipes below the water table, which would be significantly more challenging and costly.
