Summary Details
The proposed contract PL26TAS6100 requires work services for spring tree planting in the Lakes Operating Area of BC Timber Sales – Babine Business Area which consists of both straight plants and fill/under plants. Planting density will range from 2000 s/ha or 1800 s/ha for most of the blocks, the fill plant blocks and a couple blocks with higher density of Pli naturals are planned for 1200-1400 s/ha.
Total tree allocation for the 2024 Lakes planting is estimated at 1,217,640 spring seedlings, more or less, on ~700 hectares within 13 blocks.
Project is to be completed no later than June 21, 2025, as per the approved work progress plan and schedules.
Approximately 98,588 of the seedlings are expected to be I-Wrap Larch.
If teabags are available, 750,000 of the seedlings will be planted with a teabag fertilizer. Fertilizer tea bags will be available at the Nadina Resource District’s Ministry of Forests location in Burns Lake, and it is the expectation that the contractor will coordinate pick-up and transportation to the field of the required teabags during business hours from this location. Fertilizer tea bags will be provided to the Contractor at no charge, but transportation to the planting units, and storage on-site will be the responsibility of the Contractor. It is expected that the Contractor’s total bid price will include a) the cost of planting the seedlings, and b) the cost for including the tea-bag (refer to Sch B, Additional Costing table). Tea bags to be planted in the same hole as the seedling plug.
See the Schedule A Services document for specific works required.
