Federal Ave Storm Inlet

A portion of a street named Federal Avenue in Emmitsburg, Maryland (between East Main Street and East North Avenue), has experienced ongoing drainage problems. During heavy rain, water often ponds in the roadway since the existing storm drainpipes and inlets are old, partially clogged, and undersized. To address this concern, the Town hired RK&K in 2025 to evaluate the drainage system and design necessary improvements. The final plans (dated November 6, 2025), recommend removing the deteriorated pipes, installing new 18-inch reinforced concrete pipe, building two new storm drain inlets, and making grading adjustments to allow water flow into the system properly.

The selected contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to complete the project as shown on the contract drawings prepared by RK&K, dated November 6, 2025. Major work items include, but are not limited to, demolition/removal of existing storm drain pipe and inlets, installing new 18” reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) storm drain, connecting to existing storm drain inlets and installing two (2) new inlets, grading and surface restoration, erosion & sediment control, maintenance of traffic, and final stabilization and cleanup
