A/E SERVICES



Site and space planning services are expected to include a range of efforts to meet ongoing and developing needs. The following outline aims to provide an overview of the types of site and space planning features and activities envisioned as part of the Master Agreement. This list is intended to be representative, not comprehensive and restrictive.




  1. Study Laboratory Foundational Background Documents. The Laboratory has several previously completed studies and reports, which serve as foundational background documents. Develop proficiency with these documents to guide and direct service planning. Access and understand key archive and planning systems. The following key documents and systems will be essential to be familiar with to effectively perform the desired services:

    1. Campus Master Plan

    2. Campus Massing Study

    3. 2025 Long Range Development Plan/EIR

    4. LBNL Annual Laboratory Plan

    5. Facilities Division GIS Database

    6. Meridian Drawing Archive

    7. Deferred maintenance database

    8. Condition assessment reports



  2. General Site Features/Systems:

    1. Landscaping, trees, planting beds, erosion control, vegetation management

    2. Roadways, bike lanes, parking spaces and lots, fleet management, streetside parking, sidewalks, crosswalks, accessibility compliance

    3. Storm drainage systems, culverts, and channels

    4. Wayfinding, general site signage

    5. Bus/shuttle routes/stops/shelters, transportation routes, and loading docks

    6. Security gates, security fencing, and site access points

    7. Pathways, walkways, and site staircases

    8. Retaining walls

    9. Seating areas, lunch areas, and social spaces



  3. Site Utilities:

    1. Power, water systems (including irrigation), natural gas, compressed air, telecommunications, and sanitary sewer

    2. Exterior lighting

    3. Mechanical and electrical pads and yards

    4. Vaults and other buried structures.



  4. Facilities and Structures:

    1. New facilities

    2. Facility rehabilitations and repairs

    3. Facility alterations and additions

    4. Roofing and M/E/P system rehabilitations, repairs, and replacements

    5. Office and Laboratory space audits, need studies, utilization studies, consolidations, refreshes, repurposing, and adjacency

    6. Surge spaces

    7. Move logistics



  5. Meetings and Site Visits:

    1. Periodic hybrid-based meetings to check in on ongoing efforts and longer-term activities

    2. Focused meetings as needed to support specific subcontracted efforts under the Master Agreement

    3. Site visits as required to support the Master Agreement



  6. Deliverables:

    1. Architectural and engineering reports, studies, and findings

    2. Options planning

    3. Cost estimates

    4. Graphics

    5. Renderings
