Plainfield Park District
2026 Fencing Projects: Various Sites Bid # 2054
This addendum becomes part of and modifies, amends, and clarifies Project Manual for the above-mentioned Bid. All
provisions and requirements of the Project Manual shall remain in effect except as specifically changed in this addendum.
Below is the list of revised items in Addendum #1 (items to follow):
1. UPDATED BID TABLE: The updated bid table follows this sheet (pg 38) and should replace the corresponding page from
the original bid package. This addendum adds a line items for alternate #6 for additional fencing work.
2. UPDATED BID FORM: The updated bid form follows this sheet (pg 48.1) and should be inserted after page 48 and
before page 49. This addendum adds an itemized bid form for alternate #6 for additional fencing work.
3. UPDATED SPECIFICATIONS: On pg. 79 of the Bid package, the specification notes “all chain link fencing six (6) feet or
more in height shall have a continuous middle rail.” This specification is updated so middle rails are only required on
fencing eight (8) foot or higher. Middle rails are not required on six (6) foot fencing. The updated specifications that
follows this sheet shall replace the corresponding page (79) in the original bid package.
4. REVISED & ADDED DRAWINGS: The following drawing sheets were revised or add and should be inserted as specified.
a. C-1 Cover Sheet (Revised*)
b. PVA-1 Parkview Meadows – Construction ALT# 6 (Insert after CSA-1)

2.4 CEMENT CONCRETE
J.
Cement concrete for post footings shall conform to Section 03300 of these
Specifications.
PART III – EXECUTION
3.1
POST INSTALLATION
A. Install new vinyl coated chain link fence in the location(s) shown on the Contract
Drawings, and as approved by the Owner’s Representative.
B. Excavation for post footings as herein before specified in Section 02300 of these
Specifications, shall be in firm undisturbed or compacted soil. Post footing diameters
vary according to post sizes required and are in accordance with attached details.
Excavate hole depths six (6) inches lower than post bottom with bottom of posts set not
less than thirty-six (36) inches below surface when in firm, undisturbed soil. Where
ledge is encountered, the Contractor shall notify the Owner’s Representative to
determine method of installation. Payment for any additional work required when
installations are in ledge shall be in accordance with methods described in SPECIAL
CONDITIONS of these Specifications.
C. Place concrete around posts in a continuous pour, tamp for consolidation. Check each
post for vertical and top alignment and hold in position during placement and finishing
operation. Crown the top of the concrete footings to pitch water away from posts.
D. Under bituminous pavements, tops of footings are to be finished smooth and are to
pitch one (1) inch from the posts to the outside edge of the foundation.
E. In mower strip locations, form top twelve (12) inches square and finish to match
mower strip with 1/4" pitch away from posts.
1. If applicable, top of fence footings at players’ benches and
cement concrete mower strips shall terminate six (6) inches
below pavement finish grade.
3.2
FENCE ERECTION
A.
Top and Bottom Rails
1.
Top and bottom rails shall form a continuous brace from end to end of each
fence run. In addition, all end and corner posts shall be braced to the nearest
line post with center brace rails. Outside sleeve type top rail coupling shall be
placed a maximum of twelve (12) inches from line posts.
B.
Middle Rails
1.
All chain link fencing eight (8) feet or more in height shall have a
continuous middle rail.
