5. Question: May the contractor obtain an independent asbestos survey
and use an abatement method that does not require wrapping every

asbestos abatement. The contractor may obtain an independent asbestos

demolition, and openings may be cut into the roofing. Bidders shall account for
the resulting conditions in their pricing and demolition planning. The City will
coordinate the training schedule and site access before contractor mobilization.

Dear Mr. Brown:
Based on a visual inspection of the above property and due to structural issues with the
building, Midwest Environmental Consulting Services, Inc. feels that there is a significant life
safety hazard connected to this building. Due to these hazards, a NESHAP inspection cannot
be completed prior to demolition in a safe and professional manner. The owner will need to
demolish the building with all suspect asbestos containing materials remaining inside the
building.
All waste generated by the demolition will need to be disposed of as asbestos waste at a
licensed landfill. The owner will need to ensure that all parties involved with the demolition
are trained and licensed in handling and disposal of asbestos containing waste.
The owner shall take all necessary precautions to protect all persons.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (630) 553-3989.
Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to service your environmental needs.
Sincerely,
Midwest Environmental Consulting Services, Inc.
