Request for Proposals
Lift Station #51
Influent Channel Crawler Type Bar Screen
Installation
Proposal
The City of St. Cloud, Minnesota is soliciting proposals from qualified vendors for the
removal of an existing Mensch Crawler Type Bar Screen and installation of a newly
procured direct replacement Mensch Crawler Type Bar Screen.
Background Information
The existing Mensch Crawler Type Bar Screen at Lift Station #51 was installed in 1997 and
has been in continuous operation for 29 years. This screen was specifically designed and
installed for the influent channel at Lift Station #51. The control panel and field controls
will also be upgraded by a customer, (City) awarded electrical contractor during the
mechanical replacement of this screen. The customer will also coordinate the integration
and programming of the new electrical equipment to the St. Cloud Nutrient, Energy and
Water (NEW) Recovery Facility's existing SCADA network.
Ensuring smooth installation and transition to a new screen is vital for continuing to offer
the uninterrupted services that customers expect. A bar screen outage of just 30 minutes
at Lift Station #51 could result in backups of St. Cloud's collection system. There is a bypass
channel available that will need to be manually cleaned during any planned outages
throughout the duration of the installation. All equipment outages will need to be
coordinated and pre-approved with the customer. This work will be scheduled during the
lowest flow period of the year (late Quarter 4 of 2026 or early Quarter 1 of 2027).
Existing Equipment
Location: 532 33rd Street South, St. Cloud, MN 56301
Existing system details:
* Channel size: 6'-0" wide X 7'-0" deep (16'-6" invert to operating floor)
* Peak flow rate: 26.0 MGD
* Bar size: 3/8" wide x 2-1/2" deep rectangular profile X 7'-0" vertical height
* Bar rack clear spacing: 3/4"
* Angle of inclination: 80 degrees from horizontal
* Debris discharge height: 5'-0" above top of channel
* Rake speed: 15-30 feet per minute
* Motor power: 2.5/5.0 hp
* Electrical supply: 460 volt, 3 phase, 60 cycle (all electrical will be completed by
others and should not be included in the final proposal price)
New Equipment Submittal: Available upon request. See contact details in Additional
Information below.
