Overview

Summary

The Storm Drainage System Replacement and Rehabilitation Project (SD-25000) has 2 project locations. The first is on Alester Avenue from Hamilton Avenue to Dana Avenue and the second is on Lambert Avenue and Birch Street. Based on the history of flooding in the area, this project proposes to upsize of the existing 12-inch line to 36-inch pipe for additional storage capacity. Pipe replacement in the streets may require additional work such as striping, sidewalk, curb and gutter, and curb ramp due to the location of the existing storm drain pipes. Due to the upsizing of the pipes, the connected catch basins will have to be removed and replaced.

Background

The Storm Drainage System Replacement and Rehabilitation Project proposes on 2 locations. The first location on Alester proposes to upsize 283 linear feet of 12-inch reinforced concrete (RCP) pipe to 36-inch high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe on Alester Avenue. The pipe would need to a 36-inch HDPE stub coming off of a junction box at Hamilton Avenue and Alester Avenue where a different contractor on another project. The catch basins, laterals, and ADA ramps will need to be replaced as a result of this upsizing. One of the main challenges is the location since the project is located next to the elementary school, the Contractor would have to adhere to the bell schedules if work is scheduled for the school year or work can done during summer when school is not in session. The second location on Lambert and Birch proposes to replace the catch basin and laterals, and install a new manhole structure in the street.
