Description: The University at Buffalo is seeking proposals from firms to provide full Construction Manager (CM) services for Project 2022-016 Joyce Exhibit at Abbott Library, located at the University at Buffalo South Campus, The State University of New York. This high-profile cultural project will create new exhibits and museum support spaces dedicated to the James Joyce Collection. This project will involve renovation of approximately 12,500sf of the first floor of Abbott Hall, including restrooms, curator office and work space, welcome desk, storage, and museum-grade mechanical, lighting, and fire-protection systems. Work will occur while the building is occupied, and it will be vital to minimize construction impact on the campus community throughout the construction duration. This is anticipated to be a single prime construction contract utilizing a Project Labor Agreement.
Submissions should emphasize the firm’s significant experience in providing pre-construction and construction phase CM services for public institutions and higher education institutional clients. The Construction Manager must demonstrate experience in managing projects that require museum-grade construction standards. This includes, but is not limited to, high-quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, environmental controls (such as lighting, humidity, and temperature management), precision installation, and coordination with exhibit designers and installers.
