APEX Accelerators are an official government contracting resource for small businesses. Find your local APEX Accelerator (opens in new window) for free government expertise related to contract opportunities.
APEX Accelerators are funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Department of Defense.
The APEX Accelerators program was formerly known as the Procurement Technical Assistance Program (opens in new window) (PTAP).
The National Institute of Health’s Clinical Center’s Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences requires the procurement of a maintenance contract for three MR patient monitors with the requirement to support the MR imaging section within the department. These patient monitors are required for patient care and to support the needs of the MR section in the Clinical Center. These machines are manufactured by Invivo Corporation, which is a part of Philip Healthcare and Philip North America LLC.
InVivo/Philips Healthcare/Philips North America LLC is the only company capable of maintaining the equipment to the standard (including Original Equipment Manufacturer, OEM, standards) required for patient safety in the Clinical Center. Maintenance by any other provider increases the risk of improper equipment function, and in turn introduces addition risk of adverse incidents, decreasing patient safety. Philips North America LLC is the only vendor that can provide proper maintenance for these patient monitors. If the monitors are not properly maintained to OEM standards, the equipment may not function properly and may not be able to monitor patient vital signs accurately. Without accurate patient vital sign monitoring, clinicians will be unable to render proper care to their patients. Without proper care, patients’ conditions could worsen and lead to worsening conditions or in extreme cases, death. No vendor other than the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) (InVivo/Philips) can supply this this maintenance. The impact of not providing a maintenance contract would be a disruption in providing safe patient care.
