Title: Corrosion Inhibitor
Addenda: 2
Release Date: 3/16/2026
Due Date: 4/13/2026
Volusia County Water Resources & Utilities (WRU) division currently owns/operates several water systems that require a corrosion inhibitor chemical to control concentrations of copper and lead found in the potable water at its customers’ taps for the following water systems: Southwest Interconnect (comprised of four (4) separate Water Treatment Plants (WTP), Spruce Creek Fly–In WTP, and Halifax Plantation WTP).
Previous corrosion control studies have determined that a corrosion inhibitor chemical should be utilized. Currently, WRU utilizes a blended orthophosphate and polyphosphate liquid solution, SK-7840 (50/50 blend) at Spruce Creek Fly-In & Halifax Plantation WTP, and AQUAMAG 9100 (90/10 blend) at Southwest Interconnect WTPs. Each facility has existing chemical pump equipment that will be used to feed the corrosion inhibitor chemical. Volusia County is required to perform triennial lead/copper testing of customer’s water.
