City of Spruce Grove

The City of Spruce Grove, Recreation and Culture Department is requesting proposals for the provision and supply of a Wayfinding Signage Plan for Spruce Grove. This Plan will focus on two specific planning areas: Parks and Trail systems and the City center/downtown area. The purpose of the plan is to create a framework and implementation strategy that will result in enhanced accessibility and user experience of the city’s network of green spaces, amenities/destinations and the community’s downtown area.
The City understands the value of parks, trails and placemaking in a vibrant community and there is a recognized need for enhanced navigation and informative signage that supports, encourages and enhances the community’s use of these areas and amenities.
The project will result in a plan that will incorporate consistent signage, interpretive materials, technology, improve wayfinding, placemaking and engage the community in the creation of the plan. The recommendations related to the City’s parks and trail systems will include considerations related to:
•        educational opportunities on the environment,
•        cultural history;
•        directional signage;
•        park and trail use limitations; and
•        support emergency response in the parks through identifiable nomenclature and markers.
The recommendations related to the city center/downtown area will also include:
•        opportunities to support local businesses; and
•        the creation of a separate, but complementary sub-brand for the designated area.
Ultimately, the project aims to promote health, well-being, and economic development through improved access and experience to green spaces, amenities and the downtown.
