APEX Accelerators are an official government contracting resource for small businesses. Find your local APEX Accelerator (opens in new window) for free government expertise related to contract opportunities.
APEX Accelerators are funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Department of Defense.
The APEX Accelerators program was formerly known as the Procurement Technical Assistance Program (opens in new window) (PTAP).
Naval Medical Research Unit San Antonio (NAMRU-SA) is a major research and development center whose mission is to conduct gap driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research, to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of Department of Defense (DoD) personnel engaged in routine and expeditionary operations. This information will provide market research support for NAMRU-SA’s Directed Energy Health Effects Directorate (DEHE) . DEHE evaluates directed energy non-lethal weapon health effects and effectiveness; characterizes the resultant health effects of electromagnetic fields and high energy laser injuries at the molecular, cellular, and structural levels and subsequently determines the etiology and treatment of directed energy injuries; establishes safety standards for training and combat forces in directed energy operating environments and develops battlefield directed energy threat countermeasures; develops and supports a robust modeling and simulation initiative designed to produce and evaluate test data virtually.
