Description

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) maintains cableway and hydrometric gauging stations across approximately 500 sites in the Pacific and Yukon areas. The hydrometric data supports activities such as policy development, infrastructure design, water allocation, flood and drought response, recreation, navigation, ecosystem protection, and scientific study.

Hydrometric stations typically consist of a “walk-in” or “look-in” instrument shelter and a cableway or metering bridge to measure discharge. Some stations include rated weirs to ensure accurate measurements of discharge at low water levels. Many weirs were constructed 20-50 years ago and require replacement or maintenance to ensure their continued operation.

Two of these hydrometric weirs are found at the following stations: Two Forty Creek near Penticton (08NM240) and Two Forty-One Creek near Penticton (08NM241). These weirs were constructed with wood over 20 years ago and require replacement to ensure their continued operation.

ECCC requires a Contractor to conduct construction activities to rebuild the two hydrometric weirs and remove sediment build up to reestablish the weir pool at the two Water Survey of Canada Stations: Two Forty Creek near Penticton (08NM240) and Two Forty-One Creek near Penticton (08NM241).

Completion of the construction work scope is anticipated within a twelve (12)-day period.

The requirement is subject to the provisions of the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA).
