The New York City Police Department is seeking an appropriately qualified vendor to initiate a pipeline for the purchase of Explosive Detection Canines (EDC) and EDC Training courses canines and their Handlers (NYPD personnel) in the NYPD Counterterrorism Division. These canine teams will be used at locations of critical infrastructure such as City Hall and the United Nations, and will be deployed to major events such as New Year’s Eve, Thanksgiving Day Parade, the US Open, and the New York City Marathon. The canine teams are essential and vital to the success of the CTD’s overall mission to detect, deter, and prevent terrorist incidents, along with enhancing the Department’s ability to protect the tristate area from the detonation of an explosive device at major events held throughout the year, as well as, security of critical infrastructure locations.
