Description


The Chatham County ¿ Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) on behalf of the Coastal Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (CORE MPO) and Effingham County is requesting proposals to provide Engineering Design Consultant Services for the SR 26/US 80 CORRIDOR STUDY, PHASE II FROM THE BRYAN COUNTY/EFFINGHAM COUNTY LINE (OGEECHEE RIVER) TO THE EFFINGHAM COUNTY/CHATHAM COUNTY LINE.

The Study will evaluate the existing and future capacity, operations, and safety conditions of the corridor from its western terminus at the Ogeechee River (i.e., Bryan County/Effingham County line) eastwards to the Effingham County/Chatham County line. Updated traffic counts and projections will be obtained throughout the corridor, as well as crash data. This data will be used to evaluate the operations and safety of the corridor with strong consideration given to access management and capacity improvements that will improve the operations and safety. The Study will consider freight, commuter, and local traffic as well as pedestrians and bicyclists. The Study will account for anticipated continued growth associated with the development of the Hyundai Metaplant and at the Port of Savannah. The goal of the Study will be to identify and prioritize short-, mid- and long-term improvements needed for the corridor to operate at an acceptable level of service and provide prioritization of the required improvements to facilitate planning and programming of projects through the CORE MPO Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) and Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) process.
