What to Expect

  • Open cut installation of approximately 16,000 linear feet of 16 to 24-inch diameter ductile iron water main at various depths up to 15 feet.
  • Trenchless installation of approximately 600 linear feet of 24-inch diameter ductile iron water main within a 42-inch steel casing at various depths up to 10 feet.
  • Installation and tie-ins/shutdowns will require coordination with the landowners and customers in the project area.

ASR Pipeline Cathodic Replacement Project

About the Project

The ASR Pipeline Cathodic Replacement Project will be volume II of the two-part project. The Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) pipeline supplies water to SAWS customers along the eastern half of the city. It delivers water from H2Oaks to the Artesia, Seale, and Randolph pump stations. The pipeline also has the ability to send water back to H2Oaks for recharge into the ASR system. This project consists of replacing the cathodic protection system that protects ASR pipeline Segments 4, 5, and 6 – 47,116 linear feet of 60-inch, 25,163 linear feet of 42-inch, and 4,460 linear feet of 24-inch steel pipelines with an impressed current cathodic protection system. The improvements implemented under this project will protect the pipeline against corrosion and enhance the longevity of this pipeline.
