The proposed silviculture survey contract includes the collection of field data from approximately 120 sites (including remote/isolated units), for a total of 3,320 ha. Sites are located throughout the full breadth of operating areas in the Boundary Business Area. Survey types include Free Growing and Survival/Stocking surveys. A small portion of the units may require multi-layered or layered even-aged survey methodologies. The complete list of surveys by type and geographic location can be found on the attached Schedule B-1.
In addition to data collection, the contract involves the submission of survey reports, updating BCTS’ LRM database, and RESULTS submissions (including Free Growing declarations, Forest Cover information, and activity updates) by an appropriately qualified Forest Professional.

Be aware that BCTS has made changes to its EMS and SFM programs to meet the updated 2022 Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Forest Management Standard. Changes impacting BCTS clients include new training requirements (Table 008-1, 008-1A, Tailgate Training, SFI Awareness documents, and new Indigenous rights awareness training, as well as changes to training frequency and a new continuing education component). In addition, note changes to EMS/SFM Environmental Field Procedures and Incident Reporting Procedures which occurred June 1, 2022.
Supervisors and workers will need to be familiar with these changes prior to commencement of operations.
