Summary

San Mateo County Health, Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) is seeking proposals from interested parties to pilot the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Innovation (INN) Peer Support for Peer Workers pilot project. This project will pilot best practices in peer supports for peer workers that work at BHRS or at BHRS contracted community-based organizations. The award for this agreement is pending final approval by the California Commission for Behavioral Health.

Both qualified new providers and qualified existing BHRS providers are eligible to apply for funds. The selected provider(s) will work with BHRS staff to implement these services in accordance with MHSA INN requirements.

BHRS is issuing Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 2025-007 for this MHSA INN Pilot Project. The applicant submitting a proposal shall satisfy all requirements outlined in this RFP.

Background

San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) provides a continuum of services for children, youth, families, adults and older adults for the prevention, early intervention and treatment of serious mental illness and/or substance use conditions. We are committed to supporting treatment of the whole person to achieve wellness and recovery, and promoting the physical and behavioral health of individuals, families, and communities we serve. BHRS is committed to providing peer support to families of children, youth, families, adults and older adults and to promote the professional development of peer support specialists as an emerging profession in the behavioral workforce.
