Description

The Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (2016) mandates a comprehensive environmental monitoring and evaluation program to assess the condition of Alberta’s environment. In addition, the Office of the Chief Scientist 2019-24 Science Strategy requires Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (AEPA) specifically to provide this program in a scientifically credible manner to support the government’s efforts to achieve its environmental outcomes and sustainable development strategies. AEPA operates the provincial lakes water quality monitoring program under the umbrella of these legislative and operational directives. This work includes both field collection of water from lakes and reservoirs across the province and subsequent analysis of samples at contracted analytical laboratories for Chlorophyll-a. This RFP solicits Proposals from analytical laboratories to provide scientifically credible Chlorophyll-a analyses to support AEPA monitoring goals and condition of environment assessments.

This RFP supports the delivery of provincial lentic (lake/reservoir) monitoring programs via the establishment of contracts with laboratories to provide the analytical services outlined in Appendix B.

The Province requires the Services as set out in Appendix B to this RFP. The anticipated duration of Services is from April 1st, 2025, to March 31st, 2027. The Province, in its discretion, will confirm actual start and end dates for the Services upon finalizing the Contract.

The Province may extend the Contract, under the same terms and conditions, for two (2) additional terms of up to 12 months each to perform the Services.
