County of Sussex -Phase1 is for geotechnical investigation, site assessment, permitting, and design in preparation for a potentialphase 2 project to upsize stormwater infrastructure between 224 Sussex Ave, Wakefield, VA 23888 and408 County Dr, Wakefield, VA 23888 (36.971389, -76.992611 to 36.973806, -76.990278 to 36.973833, -76.989083).

Sussex County has received a $1 million grant through the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) for engineering design and related tasks associated with drainage improvements in the Town of Wakefield for an unnamed tributary to Wildcat Swamp and Wildcat Swamp. These improvements will be based on a preliminary drainage report completed by the Wooten Company in December 2023, in conjunction with a USACE preliminary flood modeling project. Engineering firms interested in being considered for this project should submit a narrative of qualifications and experience with similar drainage improvement design projects to: Sussex County Administration, P.O. Box 1397, 20135 Princeton Road, Sussex, VA 23884 by June 30, 2025.
