APEX Accelerators are an official government contracting resource for small businesses. Find your local APEX Accelerator (opens in new window) for free government expertise related to contract opportunities.
APEX Accelerators are funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Department of Defense.
The APEX Accelerators program was formerly known as the Procurement Technical Assistance Program (opens in new window) (PTAP).
The GLOBUS Program is a bi-national collaborative effort, supporting critical radar and communications systems with unique operational requirements and is hosted at Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) location. The GLOBUS System of Systems consists of an S-Band (GLOBUS-S) phased array radar, an X-Band (GLOBUS-X) dish radar, an Integrated System Controller (ISC) computer system, and a Mission Communication Suite (MCS) which was fielded in 2023. The United States Air Force, through AFMC, is responsible for the procurement of capital equipment at the operational site, sustainment (to include spares), Urgent/Emergency Depot Level Maintenance, and oversight; the Host Nation Government is responsible for operating the system and any organizational level maintenance.
This acquisition represents a mission-critical investment to mitigate risk of a catastrophic failure of a GLOBUS-X Band elevation gearbox (s). This acquisition will be for the procurement of two (2) elevation gearbox spares. GLOBUS-X, today, relies on worn gearboxes - originally manufactured in 1993 - with limited spares. There is one (1) elevation gearbox at site. The unique operating conditions and system specific design of the Elevation gearboxes render both gear boxes incompatible with any other existing or planned programs. The uniqueness and non-existence of like items, highlighting the necessity for dedicated spares.
This effort is to find a supplier to produce new built-to-print gearboxes in accordance with the technical data package provided by the USG, which will require Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE). It is anticipated that this solicitation will be posted on or around 7 April 2026 to the Government Point of Entry. Vendors are encouraged to monitor SAM for further updates and/or official posting. Any questions or concerns must be submitted in writing to the point of contact identified in this posting.
** NOTE: Companies must have current SAM record.
** NOTE: Starting 10 November 2025, Cyber Security Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) contract requirements in DFARS Clause 252.204-7021 may be included in any DoD Contracts or Solicitations. Companies must have a current Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification status that meets or exceeds the requiremetns in future solicitations or contracts.
