Proposals are being accepted by West Basin Municipal Water District (West Basin), for Instructor Services for West Basin Education Programs .
Respondent shall provide staff to serve as both tour guides and instructors to support a robust offering of education programs. School tours at the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility (1935 S. Hughes Way El Segundo, CA 90245) will be offered three to four times each week during school year (September through June) with up to two staff members needed each day. Additional ad hoc support may be needed for public tours (no set schedule), at a maximum of 24 times each year with up to two staff members needed each session. Art lessons will be offered from January-March, at a maximum of 24 in that time period. It is the expectation that Respondent provide as many staff members needed to cover the above sessions.
All costs proposals per program should incorporate project administration (participation data collection, reporting, etc.) and planning, employee benefits and salary, travel time, and vehicle and fuel costs.
The ideal Respondent is expected to deliver consistently high-quality school tour and classroom education programs led by highly trained instructors and showcase specialized water education content and innovative, hands-on and thought-provoking educational pedagogy reflecting West Basin’s strong commitment to water education and conservation programs.
West Basin is seeking to award a two-year contract from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2028.
West Basin is a recognized leader in the production of recycled water, conservation and education programs. The District offers a wide array of educational programs, contests, and tours to help students in grades 3 – 12 learn about water and water conservation. Eligible schools are located in the West Basin service area from the cities of: Carson, Culver City, El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Lawndale, Malibu, Lomita, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and may include surrounding cities such as Los Angeles and Torrance.
West Basin supports developing the next generation of environmental stewards and water workers. To an extent, Respondent will integrate the scope of this project with an existing workforce development (i.e.; internship or job training) program. If possible, the workforce development program will serve those individuals that are underserved or underrepresented within the community.
