Description
The Geological Survey of Canada (GSC; Technical Authority) is studying the potential of tensor gradiometry for both geoscience and magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) applications. Full tensor magnetic gradiometry (FTMG) data, which measures the full magnetic gradient tensor at each measurement point, is considered superior to traditional magnetic surveying techniques (e.g. scalar Total Magnetic Intensity (TMI)) and provides an opportunity for improved discrimination of magnetic sources and a more complete picture of the subsurface magnetic properties.
This project includes several case studies, one of which is a survey focused over the Minto Area near Minto, YT, using a SQUID magnetometer device that measures the nine tensor components of the earth’s magnetic field. As such, a helicopter-borne SQUID survey is proposed over the Minto intrusion.
The estimated contract period will be 5 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2026/02/23.
