Description: The Town of Lake Pleasant Museum, erected in 1894, is among the oldest buildings in Hamilton County and is one of the town's very few cultural assets. Used originally as the first town hall and then a town library, the building now houses a museum with a unique collection documenting the town's history from before 1812. The exterior of the building is in need of significant upgrades to protect the integrity of the building, and the exhibits housed inside. Proposed Scope Amendment: This portion of the restoration project will include exterior painting of the building including removing peeling paint, priming and painting, caulking as needed, and repairing existing rot and holes in the structure. The roof of the building will also be replaced in kind with a metal roof. To do this, a qualified contractor will be engaged to remove the existing roof, replace any rotted decking and the drip edge, and install ice and water shields and flashing. Outcomes include stabilizing the building and limiting further damage to the exterior while also reducing the potential of damaging the items stored within the museum by replacing the roof. Materials Use: Roof Replacement: The existing steel roof will be replaced with a new steel roof and the gable trim will be replaced where necessary with complementary material. Exterior Painting: Due to the presence of lead-based paint, all work will be done in accordance with the EPA's Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting Program (RRP) guidelines.
