Project Description: The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District (SMART) is a Special District within the State of California that owns, maintains, and operates passenger rail service in Sonoma County and Marin County. In addition to passenger rail service, SMART is a common carrier that owns and operates freight rail services within Sonoma County, Marin County, and Napa County.
SMART is seeking Sealed Bids from qualified, licensed, and experienced contractors to perform approximately, 40,000 feet of track surfacing, lining, and ballast restoration on SMART’s mainline track.
Contractor shall perform track surfacing, lining, and ballast restoration on portions of its railroad system to restore track geometry, improve ride quality, and maintain compliance with applicable FRA standards.
Ballast material will be provided by SMART and SMART staff will transport and dump ballast at the designated locations, unless otherwise noted in the solicitation documents.
Work will be performed within an active railroad right-of-way and shall be coordinated with SMART operations to avoid disruption to passenger and freight service.
Contractor shall achieve Substantial Completion of the project within 45 calendar days from the date from when the Notice to Proceed is issued.
The deadline to submit a bid in response to this Solicitation is March 27, 2026 at 2:00pm (Pacific).
