GENERAL NOTES:
1. ALL WORK SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF HASTINGS STANDARD PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS.
2. THE LOCATION OF ALL AERIAL AND UNDERGROUND UTILITY FACILITIES MAY NOT BE INDICATED ON
THESE PLANS. UNDERGROUND UTILITIES, WHETHER INDICATED OR NOT WILL BE LOCATED AND
FLAGGED BY THE UTILITIES AT THE REQUEST OF THE CONTRACTOR. NO EXCAVATION WILL BE
PERMITTED IN THE AREA OF UNDERGROUND UTILITY FACILITIES UNTIL ALL SUCH FACILITIES HAVE
BEEN LOCATED AND IDENTIFIED TO THE SATISFACTION OF ALL PARTIES. THE EXCAVATION MUST BE
ACCOMPLISHED WITH EXTREME CARE IN ORDER TO AVOID ANY POSSIBILITY OF DAMAGE TO THE
UTILITY FACILITY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL DAMAGES.
3. CONTRACTOR SHALL PRESERVE ALL PROPERTY CORNER MONUMENTS OR RE-ESTABLISH THEM IF
THEY ARE DISTURBED DURING CONSTRUCTION.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN AND PAY THE COST OF ALL REQUIRED PERMITS AND FEES.
5. CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE ALL INCIDENTAL FITTINGS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE WORK.
6. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL COSTS OF TESTS AS REQUIRED INCLUDING WATER
LINE TESTING AND DISINFECTION.
7. TRENCH EXCAVATION SHALL MEET ALL OSHA REGULATIONS, AND BE AT MINIMUM 6' WIDE X 6' LONG.
IF TRENCH IS LESS THAN 6' IN EITHER DIRECTION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPLY AND INSTALL A
TRENCH BOX OR SHORING.
8. TRENCH EXCAVATION & BACKFILL SHALL BE MECHANICALLY TAMPED BY THE CONTRACTOR &
TESTED. COMPACTION REQUIREMENTS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE CITY OF HASTINGS SPECIFICATIONS.
9. ALL BENDS SHALL BE BLOCKED OR UTILIZE RESTRAINED JOINTS AS APPROVED BY ENGINEER. FOR
DETAILS OF THRUST BLOCKS, ANCHORS, AND TEE BLOCKS, SEE DETAILS SHEET.
10. NEW WATER SERVICE SHALL BE DUCTILE IRON PIPE.
11. CONCRETE BLOCKING FOR FITTINGS SHALL BE SUBSIDIARY TO THE FITTINGS.
12. ALL WORK OUTSIDE OF RIGHT-OF-WAY TO BE DONE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF A LICENSED PLUMBER.
A PERMIT WILL BE REQUIRED.
13. CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE WATER FLUSHING OPERATIONS WITH WATER SYSTEM CONTROL
(402-462-3621). CONTACT MUST BE MADE AT LEAST 48 HOURS PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF WORK.
14. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ADJUSTING VALVES TO GRADE AS NECESSARY.
15. METER BUILDING SHALL FOLLOW PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS PROVIDED BY THE ENGINEER AND
INCLUDE ALL THE MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, AND STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS LISTED IN THE
PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS. SHOP DRAWINGS MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE CITY AND
APPROVED PRIOR TO COMMENCING BUILDING CONSTRUCTION.
TESTING & SAMPLING
1. PLUMBING CONTRACTOR MUST SUPPLY TAP, EXTENSION PIPING, AND
VALVING AS DIRECTED BY THE UTILITY DEPARTMENT, FOR TESTING
AND SAMPLING.
2. PLUMBING CONTRACTOR MAY HIRE CITY PERSONNEL TO
CHLORINATE PIPING OR CHOOSE TO CHLORINATE PIPING THEMSELF.
