Description
The proposed contract is for Douglas-fir beetle funnel trapping in the Revelstoke and North Arrow Timber Supply Areas (TSA) with the objective to reduce IBD populations. It involves the set-up, maintenance, and take-down of funnel traps in selected areas of the above-mentioned TSAs.
This includes weekly or bi-weekly visits to each site for samples and emptying cups. Douglas-fir beetle surveys may also be conducted at selected sites later in season to determine efficacy. The contractor will also count beetles and record data gathered as per contract specifications. It is recommended that the successful contractor have a non-food freezer for storage of forest health supplies and dead beetles.
The marshalling point for daily field work is the area between Nelson, Kaslo and the Crescent Valley, see attached Work Commencement Area map.
