The purpose of this RFP is to obtain proposals to be used to identify the insurance carrier(s) most suited to offer group accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, short term disability, plans to Chesapeake Public Schools employees. Chesapeake Public Schools will also explore adding Pet Insurance coverages. The District will not consider responses from non-insurance carriers.
Employees of Chesapeake Public Schools are currently offered voluntary insurance products through UNUM . These plans include accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, and short term disability insurance coverages.

Chesapeake Public Schools seeks proposals from qualified insurance carrier(s) to provide Group Voluntary Insurance Products as specified in this document and any associated attachments. The District requires services to begin January 1, 2027 (with Open Enrollment scheduled in October 2026). Our current contract for these services is with UNUM, this contract expires on December 31, 2026.
Gallagher Benefit Services is the current insurance consultant for Chesapeake Public Schools benefit programs. They will provide appropriate resources to coordinate, monitor and place the program on behalf of the District
