Active Transportation Planning and Technical Assistance

Brief description: MnDOT’s Active Transportation Program envisions a future where all people in Minnesota have access to safe and convenient active transportation where they live, work, and play. The non-infrastructure side of the program includes multiple ways for all communities to make walking, bicycling, and rolling safer, more convenient, and more accessible. Grants awarded through the non-infrastructure portion of the program may be used to support planning, installation of demonstration projects, education, engagement, encouragement, and other non-infrastructure activities. This project will help rural and urban communities to improve places for people walking, bicycling, and rolling by providing communities with actionable plans to improve local infrastructure, establish policies and programming that support active transportation, conduct equitable engagement, and learn technical skills such as demonstration project development to assist future endeavors.
