Description

Nadina River Spawning Channel - Lake Water Intake Replacement

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

This project involves the replacement of the existing lake water intake servicing the Nadina River Spawning Channel at Nadina Lake, located approximately 80 km south of Houston, British Columbia. The work will be carried out at an approximate water depth of 30 feet and will require construction diving services. The work includes:

a)        Removal and disposal of the existing lake water intake box (approximately 8’4” x 8’4” x 8”, steel), including work adjacent to an existing asbestos-bonded, asphalt-dipped corrugated steel pipe stub, and appropriate hazardous materials handling and disposal procedures.

b)        Supply and/or fabrication of a new lake water intake and associated components. Fabrication may be completed by an experienced subcontractor.

c)        Installation of the new lake water intake and intake screen, including underwater placement, secure attachment, and integration with the existing pipeline to ensure effective operation and protection of fish and fish habitat.

d)        Implementation of environmental protection and sedimentation mitigation measures to minimize disturbance to the lakebed and surrounding fish habitat during in-water works.

The Contractor must be responsible for all labour, equipment, diving services, transportation, logistics, permitting, inspections, environmental compliance, and coordination with the Departmental Representative. An initial site visit is required to verify measurements and confirm project layout prior to commencing work.

Specifications and Drawings will be included and posted in Phase Two Invitation to Tender.

SITE VISIT:

The site is very remote and works in underwater so an onsite visit will not be offered. DFO will offer an optional online bidder’s meeting to provide a virtual site tour and discuss site challenges.
