Minnow Lake Provincial Recreation Area - Boat Launch Refurbishment

Minnow Lake Provincial Recreation Area (MinnowLPRA) is located 20km east of Edson on Hwy 16 and 20km south on Wolf Lake Road. The boat launch is constructed of concrete pads that have moved due to spring ice damming and no longer provide safe access for boat launching.

Immediate repairs are required to restore and improve the boat launch. The work includes extending the boat launch into deeper water by establishing the required grade and installing a granular base, replacing broken concrete pads with new supplied concrete pads, and installing washed river rock along the edges of the boat launch to protect against erosion and undermining.

In addition, drainage improvements are required along the roadway leading down to the boat launch to reduce surface water issues, improve runoff management, and prevent further deterioration of the access route to the launch area.

The existing boat launch at the day use area is approximately 3050 mm wide x 9145 mm long. The boat launch is constructed of 21 concrete pads. Each concrete pad is approximately 3050 mm wide x 250 mm long x 150 mm thick.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE:
The goal of this project is to complete upgrades to the boat launch at MinnowLPRA to provide improved boat launch access to the public.

Note: The Proponent is to provide a preliminary Construction Schedule with their response to the RFQ. Failure to provide a Construction Schedule may result in the bid being rejected.

Submit inquiries as early as possible in the bid period. Inquiries received after the inquiries deadline may not allow sufficient time for Alberta Forestry and Parks to issue an addendum and therefore may not receive a response.

Interested contractors are invited to attend an optional onsite pre-bid meeting on October 2, 2026 at 11:00am. The meeting location is at the Minnow Lake Provincial Recreation Area day use boat launch.

Due to existing site conditions, it is recommended that all Contractors attend the onsite pre-bid meeting. Please RSVP Breann Haskim at Breann.haskim@gov.ab.ca if you will be attending. If no attendance confirmations are received by September 25, 2026, at 4:00pm, the pre-bid meeting will be cancelled.
