Description

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This contract involves the iterative development and evaluation of a smartphone application

(APP) for older drivers, specifically targeting the safety and mobility needs of individuals aged

65 and older. The work entails the translation of research findings into a functional software

prototype for both iOS and Android platforms.

The project scope encompasses the complete design lifecycle, including:

1) User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) Development: Creating wireframes and

iterative designs optimized for older drivers' cognitive and physical requirements, with

particular attention to aspects of distraction during the dynamic driving task.

2) Prototyping and Pilot Testing: Building a functional APP prototype and conducting

usability testing with a sample of older drivers.

3) Research Design: Developing a detailed Field Operational Test (FOT) framework,

including naturalistic driving protocols and regulatory documentation (e.g., IRB, ICR,

and PTA drafts), to support future performance assessments.

4) Technical Documentation: Producing comprehensive reports that detail design

methodology, testing outcomes, and recommendations for future iterations.

5) The Contractor is responsible for managing technical transition from initial wireframe

concept to a pilot-tested prototype ready for large-scale field evaluation.
