Sole Source Procurement
This is not a solicitation for bids or proposals. This is a notice of intent to purchase a product without seeking competition.
Any responses received as a result of this Notice of Intent shall be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Responses will not be considered as proposals, bids, or quotes. The proposed contract action is for products or services for which the College intends to negotiate and award with only one source, as permitted under the authority of the Utah Procurement Code (U.S.C. ยง 63G-6a-802, as amended).
Product and/or service to be purchased: Lucas-Nuelle "CarTrain Diagnosis and Maintenance of a High Voltage Battery" trainer
Proposed Sole Source Supplier: X-Cal Corporation
Sole Source Justification:
List the products/services with which this purchase must be compatible, the date those products/services were purchased, the life expectancy of the products, name of the vendor from which the purchase was made, and the purchase order, bid, or requisition number associated with that purchase.
To provide continuity with student learning, this particular LN trainer will seamlessly provide students with additional learning gained from the currently owned LN Hybrid/Electric trainer. Adding modules and assignments will be smooth for both the students and the instructor. The current LN trainer SLLC owns, the Car Train ASE L3 Trainer was purchased on January 3, 2024 from X-Cal. PO# P2401560.
2.Why must this purchase be compatible with the products/services listed above?
Ease of learning and industry preparedness with continuity to our current trainer is a reason for staying with the LN brand of High Voltage Battery trainer.
Responses:
Interested and capable vendors may respond to the stated requirements and justification by email or electronic communication through U3P. Such communication should include a statement regarding their capability to provide the specified procurement item. Responses will be considered only if they include clear and convincing documentation that demonstrates the capability of meeting or exceeding the requirements stated herein. All responses received by the due date and time specified in the posting will be reviewed by the College. A determination not to complete this proposed action based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of Salt Lake Community College Purchasing Services.
