Boone County Bridge Guardrail Replacement

The Boone County Fiscal Court is receiving Bids from KYTC Pre-Qualified Contractors (Work Item NAIC Class E1 or I04) for the replacement of wood guardrails for three (3) bridges in Boone County.

Each bidder is required to submit with their bid, a bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the base bid, or certified check equal in amount to five percent (5%) of the base bid. The bidder to whom the contract is awarded will be required to furnish surety bonds in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount as further specified in the Supplemental General Conditions.

Boone County Public Works is responsible for maintaining guardrails for all county-maintained bridges. Three (3) bridges have been identified as having existing wood railing that have exceeded their useful life. It is the intent of the Public Works Department to receive bids for replacement of the existing wood railing, posts, post attachments, terminal sections, and pedestrian railings with a powder-coated, steel guardrail system meeting KYTC Standard Specifications and AASHTO Standards. The pedestrian railing may be constructed from alternative materials, provided it complies with OSHA standards for pedestrian fall protection.

Construction Schedule: The project schedule is based on a contract award on or before June 17, 2025, with a Substantial Completion date of September 30, 2025, and Final Completion date of October 31, 2025.
