COJ McGirts Creek Preserve II 25/26 Timber Sale

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This sale is a logger-select thinning of approximately 66 acres of 27-year-old slash pine on the City of Jacksonville's (COJ) McGirt's Creek Preserve in Duval County, Florida. The McGirt's Creek Preserve entrance is located at the end of Feldman Road (see attached maps). The residual trees shall be spaced approximately 40 feet apart, leaving approximately 30 trees per acre. Trees to be removed from the selection rows include diseased, damaged, defective, forked, and suppressed trees; followed by a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the desired trees per acre and spacing. Leave trees should be evenly spaced throughout the sale area. The target trees per acre and spacing can be adjusted by the Forester-in-Charge as needed due to variations in stand and site conditions. Logging decks and skid trails must be approved by the Forester-in-Charge. Sale Boundaries are roads, marked forest boundaries, wetlands, and obvious timber type changes. The estimated volume to be removed is 6,271 tons of pine pulpwood, and 1,369 tons of pine chip-n-saw & better. This will be a three-month contract. Interested parties may obtain complete bid information by contacting Jonathan Johnson at (904) 573-4902.

The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularity in bids received.
