CITY OF CRAIG
The City of Craig is requesting bids for chemicals for 2026.
The following conditions shall be applicable to the bids:
1. The chemicals will be purchased on an as-needed basis.
2. Estimated quantities for each type of chemical have been listed for bidding purposes.
Actual quantities purchased during 2026 may be more or less for each type of
chemical.
3. The City of Craig is a tax-exempt municipality.
4. The unit price listed on the Bid Proposal Form shall be for the specified chemical
delivered to the Craig Water Treatment Plant or Craig Wastewater Treatment Plant in
Craig, Colorado, and shall include any shipping charges or fuel surcharge fees.
5. The Unit prices, and/or returnable deposit charges listed on The Bid Proposal Form
shall be valid for the 2026 calendar year.
6. A bidder may submit a bid for any or all of the chemicals listed. Each item listed on
the Bid Proposal Form will be individually considered with a separate award for each
item. Any deposit charges will be used in determining the lowest bid.
7. The chemicals shall be delivered to the Craig Water Treatment Plant, at 111 S.
Ranney St. or the Craig Wastewater Treatment Plant, at 2301 W. 1st St. within 72
hours of notification by the City, unless prior arrangements have been made. If the
chemicals are unavailable within the specified time, the City of Craig may secure the
chemicals from any available source. Chemicals may also be randomly tested, by the
city’s staff, for quality control upon delivery. If a delivery is found to be below
standard it may be rejected and the city will acquire the chemical from an alternate
source.
8. All chemicals bid shall meet or exceed AWWA standards specifications, and be NSF
60/61 approved for potable water production, with the exception of item “E”.
9. Safety Data Sheets shall be provided by the vendor for all chemicals that are
bid on. SDS and NSF 60/61 approval certification must accompany all bids. A
digital copy of the SDS and NSF approval can be substituted for a hardcopy.
10. Failure to provide the SDS and/or NSF60/61certification statement for any items
bid on, may be cause for the rejection of the bid.
A. CHLORINE-1 Ton cylinders: The chlorine shall be of commercial grade to meet or
exceed AWWA standard B301-18 for drinking water purposes. The cylinder’s top valve
opening orientation shall be to the right (at 3 o’clock). Chlorine shall be delivered on
trucks that have a hydraulic lift tailgate system.

10,000 lbs.

B. SULFUR DIOXIDE-1 Ton cylinders: The sulfur dioxide shall be commercial grade
for purposes of dechlorination at the Wastewater Treatment Plant and shall meet or
exceed AWWA standard B512-15. The cylinder’s top valve opening orientation shall be
to the right (at 3 o’clock). Sulfur Dioxide shall be delivered on trucks that have a
hydraulic lift tailgate system.
Estimated quantity required in 2026:
Normal quantity requested per order:
10,000 lbs.
1 cylinder
C. COAGULANT AID POLYMER:
1. Shall be a nonionic/anionic type polymer.
2. Shall be in Liquid form.
3. Polymer will be delivered in 55-gallon plastic or steel drums.
4. Polymer shall be approved for use in potable water production.
5. Meets or exceeds AWWA Standard B453-19 or B452-20.
6. Shall comply with all testing requirements below.
7. The only acceptable polymer at this time for item (I) is Thatcher’s T-Floc 1465.
All polymers shall first be tested and proven to work successfully under various water
quality conditions prior to being eligible to bid. All costs associated for these tests shall
be the responsibility of the prospective vendor. These tests include both jar test analysis
to initially determine the vendor’s best type of polymer to use followed by the vendor
supplying enough of this material for at least a week’s worth of full plant use to verify
that no adverse effects are encountered and the polymer performs to the staff’s needs.
