SPECIAL NOTICE: INDUSTRY DAY FOR FIBER REINFORCED POLYMER MANUFACTURERS, DESIGNERS AND INSTALLERS

The US Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, is hosting an Industry Day on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at its Robert C. Byrd Locks and Dam, Gallipolis Ferry, WV, regarding the design, fabrication, delivery, and installation of fiber reinforced polymer miter gates and dam bulkheads at several Ohio River Lock and Dam Projects. The Government seeks feedback from engineers and fabricators with experience overseeing complex projects, which will be used for preliminary planning purposes. A brief tour of the lock and demonstration/discussion regarding its operation will also be provided. This Industry Day will be an excellent opportunity for contractors with NAICS codes 326199 and 325211, for the manufacturing of FRP; and additional codes for prime or subcontracting (including 237990 or 541330), to learn more about this upcoming work and meet the USACE team. Manufacturing, Constructiuon and Engineering firms with experience in FRP work are highly encouraged to attend.

Event will begin at 10:00 a.m. on March 5, 2025 with access to the Lock and Dam offices from the WV Route 2 side of the facility. Further instructions will be provided to those who have been cleared for site visit.

There will also be discussion where the Government will be seeking feedback regarding design, fabrication, delivery, USACE or contractor installation, and site preparation for this work. Virtual, private one-on-one sessions, with individual fabricators, engineers and installers, will also be available on Thursday, March 6th for those firms interested. During these sessions, each party can ask specific questions about the work. Please contact Eileen Hodges to confirm your attendance on Wednesday and to reserve time with the design team on Thursday: Eileen.S.Hodges@usace.army.mil or 304-399-5632.

This is a market research effort to assist the Corps in developing plans and specifications for the design, fabrication of custom fiber reinforced polymer supply items, and installation to modern industry standards and potential methods for fabrication/installation of the units. Some of the items we are aware of needing upgrades include, but are not limited to:

* Racine Locks and Dam – Miter Gates

* Robert C. Byrd Locks and Dam – Dam Bulkheads

*All are subject to change without notice.

Additional Information: All visitors to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers properties are required to complete the Security Information Form (see attachments section of this notice). This form is to be processed by the Security Office in the Huntington District. This requires completion of the attached form sent as a password protected email to Mr. Stephen Curry in our Security Office at Stephen.R.Curry@usace.army.mil, followed by a second email to him containing the password. If attendee is not a U.S. Citizen, additional requirements apply that may take longer to process. Cut off date by which to submit the Security Information Sheet is 26 February 2025.

Disclaimer: This event is not considered to be a solicitation announcement nor offer of contract and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government for any purpose.
