Description

The North Atlantic Right Whale (NARW) is an endangered marine species with approximately 400 remaining in the world and facing threats of collisions with vessels and entanglements with fishing gear. Over the past several years, the government of Canada has put in place measures to help protect the North Atlantic Right Whale in the waters in Atlantic Canada and around Quebec. In support of NARW protection measures, Transport Canada (TC) harnesses Automatic Identification System (AIS) data on marine vessel movements in Canadian and international waters to generate evidence-based speed and traffic monitoring profiles.

The purpose of this request for proposal is to procure the services of two (2) Geomatics Analysts (Level 1) (Resources 1A/1B) who will provide general cartographic support, carry out data digitization, and develop web-based dashboards in support of North Atlantic Right Whale (NARW) protection measures.
