Description:

The RFP is an invitation to submit offers for The Supply and Install of a High-parameter Spectral Flow Cytometer Cell Analyzer, as further described herein.

The Full Spectrum Flow Cytometer Cell Analyzer will be used to precisely define brain-infiltrating subsets of mononuclear cells, their temporal expression of differentiation markers, and detect other leukocytes that are involved in the loss of learning and memory in a murine model of Long COVID. The immunophenotypic analyses of newly resident brain leukocytes will be accompanied by their localization within areas of the forebrain associated with the encoding of working-, short- and long-term memories. We will also obtain sorted immune cell subsets from blood and central nervous system compartments at various time-points post-infection to examine their expression of pro- and anti-inflammatory molecules to define critical pathways that promote cognitive impairments. An important aspect of the Full Spectrum Flow Cytometer Cell Analyzer is a compact footprint, which allows operation of the equipment within a biosafety cabinet. This is essential for sorting leukocytes derived from SARS-CoV-infected mice into subsets for further functional analyses. Thus, this instrument will be located within Western University’s Imaging Pathogens for Knowledge Translation (ImPaKT) Facility.
