Title: Buckthorn Forestry Mowing
Available Date: 3/30/2026
Due Date: 4/22/2026 2:00:00 PM
Bid Synopsis: The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is requesting bids for treatment of invasive brush on two (2) tracts totaling approximately 150 acres within the Black River State Forest (BRSF). This involves stands located in (also see the attached map):

T21N R2W Sec. 30 & 31; Town of Millston; Buckthorn Haven Site Prep
T21N R4W Section 25 & 26; Town of Brockway, Jackson County WI; Nightmare Before Christmas 2 Site Prep

The “Nightmare Before Christmas 2” site is located approximately 2 miles southeast of the City of Black River Falls with access off East 7th Street and Cranberry Drive via the ATV/Snowmobile trail. The “Buckthorn Haven” site is located approximately 8.5 miles southeast of the City of Black River Falls with access off Hunter-Haven Road. These projects involve understory forestry mowing in stands of mature timber scheduled for harvest. The entire area has a strong volume of invasive brush, mainly glossy buckthorn. The objective is to mow/mulch the brush using a drum style brush mulcher/mower to facilitate ATV/UTV access for follow up broadcast herbicide treatment. It is expected that all of the brush and coarse woody debris will be mowed down to ground level and reduced to mulch. No debris allowed on the ATV/Snowmobile trail. Any debris that does wind up on the trail must be promptly removed.

Prospective bidders are urged to examine site for evaluation prior to bidding.
