Title: San Fernando Water Main Replacement
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 1/30/2025
Due Date: 2/27/2025
The City of Tucson, Water Department, is replacing a section of the distribution water main and customer services prior to the Department of Transportation paving the same section under Proposition 411. The intent is to increase service life and realign the distribution main from the alleys to the center of the street which will improve longevity of the water system.
The current infrastructure was constructed over a span of 30 years from 1960 to 1994. To maintain operations, Tucson Water has performed an evaluation of the current system and has determined the area of construction has a high percentage of failure within the next decade. Tucson Water is replacing the water infrastructure prior to any pavement improvements to ensure fiscal responsibility for the community of city residents. The work will allow sustainability for years to come.
