The City of Fremont, Nebraska intends to retain a consultant with experience in construction management related to public sector projects. The East Central part of Nebraska was hit by a large hail storm in late spring of 2024. The City of Fremont sustained damage to many of its facilities. The City has been working with its insurance providers to identify the damage and provide estimates for repair. A list has been developed and identified approximately 30 individual sites with 100 claims and a total cost estimated at $5 million.
The City wishes to contract with a Consulting firm to evaluate, coordinate, and oversee the completion of the repairs. In some cases the City (with input from the Consultant) may choose to forego repairs depending on age or condition of repair area or because the damage is not major or only cosmetic in nature. The City will work with the selected Consultant on providing as much data on locations and conditions of existing structures, but the Consultant will be required to conduct field investigations and surveys to assist in obtaining any information the City does not have or is not able to obtain on its own. The Consultant shall be familiar with Public Sector work and public bidding laws in the State of Nebraska. In order to expedite the repair process, the City anticipates bidding similar repair projects together, (I.E. Roof repairs under one contract, siding repairs under one contract, painting repair under one contract). The City can provide a general list of project locations and estimated repair costs upon request.
