Description
The Ministry of Forests (FOR) is seeking a Proponent for a wildfire risk reduction treatment of Crown land parcels near Baron and McIntosh roads. There are 2 fuel treatment units totalling 9.6 hectares that must be completed by March 23
rd
, 2026. There are many public trails and infrastructure in the area that need to be considered for safe operations. The work area must be assessed for wildlife and dangerous trees during the contract period before work starts. The Proponent would be responsible for the wildlife dangerous tree mitigation; however, any felling and/or removal will require authorization by the Ministry Representative. Work will be brushing immature trees less than 6 inches; pruning lower conifer branches to a 2-metre fuel stratum gap; limbing and bucking woody debris to lay flat on ground; and removal, dispersal, chipping, or pile burning of woody debris. This area does have scattered sensitive soils with a 15 metre setbacks accounting for 5.2 hectares of the total 14.8 hectares. Two wildfire risk reduction signs will be installed at Ministry stated locations containing information about fire prevention
