Title: Senior Chore Snow Removal Services 2025-26 (OLHSA) Request for Quote
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 10/8/2025
Due Date: 10/28/2025
The City of Pontiac, through its Department of Grants & Philanthropy and Purchasing Division, is seeking qualified contractors to provide winter chore services for eligible senior residents under the Senior Chore Program, funded by the Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency.
Program Summary
The Senior Chore Program focuses on essential winter maintenance to ensure the safety and well-being of Pontiac’s senior residents. Services requested include:
Snow Removal: Snow blowing and shoveling of driveways, sidewalks, and entryways to maintain accessibility.
Deicing: Application of a concrete- and lawn-safe solution for salting/deicing to reduce slip hazards.
Service Restrictions: No plowing services are included in this RFQ.
Qualified bidders are invited to submit quotes to provide these seasonal chore services to eligible residents. This initiative is designed to assist seniors in remaining safe, mobile, and independent during the winter months.
Many senior citizens in the City of Pontiac live independently but require assistance with basic home maintenance during the winter months. Harsh weather conditions, particularly heavy snow and icy walkways, present significant hazards, increasing the risk of slips, falls, and loss of mobility. Without support, these conditions may lead to isolation, emergency health incidents, and diminished quality of life.
To address these needs, the City established the Senior Chore Program in 2024, which contracts with qualified service providers to perform necessary outdoor winter chores. These services include snow blowing, snow shoveling, and safe deicing treatments, specifically with products that do not harm concrete surfaces or lawns. Importantly, the program does not include plowing services, emphasizing its focus on pedestrian safety and accessibility.
By issuing this Request for Quote (RFQ), the City seeks experienced and reliable contractors who can deliver efficient, high-quality services to Pontiac’s senior residents. Through partnership with selected contractors, the City ensures seniors can remain safe, connected, and independent within their homes and neighborhoods throughout the winter season.
