RFP: Monroe Firehouse Mechanical Upgrades
Overview
The City of Rochester, through its Architectural Services Division, is soliciting proposals for architecture, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and abatement design services for the Monroe Avenue Firehouse Mechanical Upgrades project.
The City of Rochester is seeking information from qualified firms regarding planned heating system upgrades at the Monroe Avenue Firehouse. The facility, constructed in 1972, is currently heated by a gas-fired rooftop unit installed in 2005 and four boilers installed in 1984. One boiler serves the snow-melt system, while the remaining boilers heat the apparatus bays and fin-tube radiators throughout the building. The rooftop unit (RTU) serving the firehouse has experienced issues with the burner and is no longer supported by the manufacturer. The refrigerant for cooling within the air handling unit is phased-out R-22, necessitating a replacement of the RTU.
