Sealed bids for 2026 OCEAN AVENUE Sidewalk Project for the Department of Public Works
shall be submitted electronically to bidsubmit@portlandmaine.gov with the name of the Bidder,
Contract Name and Bid number in the subject line will be received until 3:00 p.m., Tuesday,
May 26, 2026, at which time they will be opened and read. Proposals may also be submitted via
USPS, UPS, FedEx or in person to the City of Portland, Purchasing Rm. 103, 389 Congress St.,
Portland ME 04101. It is the bidder’s sole responsibility to ensure that their bid is submitted prior
to the date and time specified. Late, unsigned bids, or bids submitted via fax shall not be accepted.
OUTLINE OF WORK: The project includes, but, is not limited to the following items:
- Demolition of the existing sidewalk, including brick, bituminous or concrete segments.
- Installation of new ADA compliant concrete sidewalk where specified.
- Installation of new and reset granite curb.
- Reconstruction of pedestrian curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Standards. It is expected that meeting ADA standards may be challenging in some
locations within the project area due to complexities of existing grading and site features,
but doing so is critical to the project.
- Installation of esplanade.
- Pavement markings.
- Installation of 20” diameter RRFB bases at Ocean Ave Elementary School and Walton
Street intersections.
- Reconstruction of driveway aprons per City of Portland Technical Standards
