Background

Cobb County, Georgia is the owner of the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre located at 5239 Floyd Road, SW, Mableton, GA 30126. The facility encompasses a covered 1,260 seat proscenium/264 seat table style performing space, 1000 lawn seats (2524 seats total), 4 lead dressing rooms, two 25-person chorus dressing rooms, technical director office, loading docks, lighting and sound equipment, concession/first aid outbuilding, public restroom building, approximately 400 parking spaces and box office building. The Amphitheatre was constructed with State of Georgia Grant Appropriations and funding from the Cobb County Board of Commissioners. The facility is designed to accommodate performances of all types including concerts, musical theatre, dance, symphony orchestras, plays and multi-discipline performances.

Today, the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre is metro-Atlanta’s only midsize, outdoor concert venue with covered, reserved seating. The Amphitheatre is home to a wide range of events ranging from community festivals, road races, dance recitals, school graduations, corporate events, church events, concerts and much more. The Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre hosts an average of 40 events and welcomes over 50,000 visitors each year during the summer season. The operating season begins the first of May each year concluding during the middle of October the same year.

The Cobb County PARKS Department (PARKS) reviews, approves, organizes, and oversees numerous special, holiday, public, and third-party managed events during the year. These include but are not limited to special event facilities, art and recreation centers, festival events (if needed), events on County and park properties, and other third-party managed events which occur throughout the County. The County evaluates the need for public safety services during these events while considering the purpose, size, and location of the events; including the use of police, fire, and private security as needed.
