Description
The Esquimalt Graving Dock (EGD)requires a Contractor to fabricate, deliver, and test 12 (twelve) roller fairleads / roller chocks complete with anchors as identified in the Annex- Statement of Requirement. The existing Fairleads (roller dock chock blocks) at the Esquimalt Graving Dock. This solicitation of offers is subject to the Policy on Reciprocal Procurement. This means that only Canadian Suppliers and Suppliers of an Applicable Trading Partner, as defined in the Annex Solicitation of Offers Definitions, are eligible for this solicitation of offers. Offers submitted by Suppliers of a Non-Trading Partner will be rejected.
EGD used to align and place the caissons at stop No. 2 were damaged during a routing caisson placement in 2020. The southeast side fairlead sheave arm broke off during loading. The EGD Operations team secured the fairlead but noted after inspection that there is evidence of microscopic pre-existing cracking that could be seen. All fairleads were inspected and although damage was found around the exterior of the sheave arms, the remaining fairleads are operationally satisfactory. EGD is requesting for 12 new fairleads as the current ones have reached the end of their service life. EGD would like to standardize all fairleads with the more modern closed sheave arm units.
