Scope of Services
It is the intent of this solicitation to engage one or more qualified consultants to perform phosphorus removal from Lake Kissimmee by harvesting invasive water hyacinth (Pontedaria crassipes) via traditional vegetation harvesting methods and reduce to vegetative slurry at a nearby processing station. Thixotropic mud will also be collected while leaving the consolidated sediments intact and combined with the vegetative slurry. The resulting mix will be pumped to and applied on upland agricultural properties or pastures within the Lake Kissimmee Basin at the appropriate agronomic rates. The deposited nutrients are then utilized by grass or forage via uptake and removed from the watershed in the form of hay.
